Coming soon to St.Giles: Mini Woolies

Building on the ongoing partnership between St.Giles and Woolworths, we’re proud to announce that Mini Woolies is coming to St.Giles Launceston centre in October!

Mini Woolies is an educational opportunity for young people with disabilities to learn vital skills that equip them for the workforce and help them gain confidence navigating life in the community.

Skills gained by program participants include:

  • Interpersonal communication skills for retail customer service and conversational engagement
  • Real world skills of literacy, numeracy, and register operation
  • Product handling and stock management of groceries, fresh produce and perishable foods
  • Building confidence, independence and preparedness for the future
  • Experiential exposure to build knowledge and familiarity of real world environments

St.Giles are actively seeking teenagers and young adults who are either part of a School Leaver Employment Program (SLES), or participants wanting to build capacity to find a job, to join us in the first intake of participants for the Mini Woolies program.

This is the first Mini Woolies in Tasmania open to participants who have already finished their formal education, opening up learning opportunities to a large group of Tasmanians with disabilities.
