St.Giles team are part of Curtin University’s CP Movetime study .
We are currently seeking interested families with children and adolescents with cerebral palsy aged 5-17 years from across Tasmania to be part of the program.
Study participants must be Classified within GMFCS levels IV or V
- The CP Movetime study is currently in a ‘Knowledge Translation’ phase. This phase provides an opportunity for interested families to trial use of the CP Movetime app.
- Participants will use the app for a two-week period, at which point they will be asked if they wish to continue use. They are then able to continue using the app for up to 3 months, with the ability to stop use at any time.
Further details:
- Participants will wear a small lightweight sensor on the thigh for the duration of their engagement with the study
- Working with a clinician fortnightly (in person or via telehealth), participants will set and review movement goals, in order to reduce sedentary behaviour
- Participants will need access to a smart phone to utilise the CP Movetime app. Training will be provided
- Parents of participants will be asked to answer an online questionnaire at the end of their use period
Program overview:
Children with cerebral palsy can spend more than 96% of their day seated or lying down. Not moving can lead to poor health outcomes.
In partnership with children with cerebral palsy, their families, and health care workers, the CP Movetime team have developed a mobile app, that when used in conjunction with a wearable sensor can monitor the movement of children with cerebral palsy.
Working with a clinician to set and monitor movement goals, CP Movetime encourages more movement, using technology to improve the health of children with cerebral palsy.
Curtin University HREC has approved this study (HRE2023-0032)
