A generous donation of $3000 from the Harcourts Foundation has enabled St.Giles to purchase three Square reader point-of-sale systems for use by participants at St.Giles Kitchen as we build our capacity to deliver School Leaver Employment Support (SLES) programs.
“These devices enable participants to gain valuable retail skills, in real world situations, and will be a valuable capacity building tool for a long time to come.” St.Giles General Manager of Support Services Kelly Renny said.
The St.Giles Kitchen program has been running since 2021 and has seen more than 30 Tasmanians with disabilities take part in a week long baking and retail experience.
Many program participants have gone on to secure paid work in the retail and hospitality sectors.
Harcourts state operations manager Belinda Dowde was excited to see the results from the program first hand when participants sold Pizza Bases at St.Giles Niche Market earlier this year.
“Harcourts realises the difference a grant can make to organisations like St.Giles across our community, and to see participants going away from this program with skills to help them enter the workforce is truly inspiring”
St.Giles Niche Market is back in November at the Tramsheds – keep an eye on our social media for times and dates.
