At home, or in the community, we have the Assistive Technology solution to suit your needs

Augmentative & Alternative Communication Systems

Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC) is a type of communication that allows individuals who experience difficulties or delays in speech to communicate effectively. At St.Giles we understand the importance of AAC and provide a team approach to address individual needs. Our team consists of Speech Pathologists and Occupational Therapists who work together to find the communication system that is right for you, ensuring meaningful interactions across all environments.

We offer a range of trial devices and the latest technology to help you with all types of AAC, including low tech systems, electronic speech generating devices, eye-gaze technology and iPad-based communication systems. We understand that each individual has unique communication needs, and our team will work with you to find the most appropriate system.

Our therapists can also provide consultations with you, your support team, or primary therapist to demonstrate approaches including Language Acquisition through Motor Planning (LAMP), or to support you in using your new system effectively.

We are committed to providing AAC solutions that promote independence, social interaction, and self-esteem. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help you with your AAC needs.

Computer Access & Environmental Control

Assistive Technology (AT) can make a significant difference in the daily lives of individuals with disabilities. St.Giles provides specialised electronic access methods to improve computer access and environmental control for people with disabilities. These AT devices allow individuals to control their surroundings and perform daily tasks independently.

Our team offers a range of electronic access methods including light pointers, adaptive keyboards, eye-gaze technology, remote control, wheelchair-based controls, switches, sensors, home automation and built-in systems. For example, these devices can help an individual adjust the TV volume, turn on a light, open their front door remotely, answer the telephone, and operate their computer.

We believe in working with individuals to find the right assistive technology solution to improve their daily life. Contact our team today to discuss your electronic access method needs.
