St.Giles is looking for a dedicated Facilities and Maintenance Officer to join our asset management team in Launceston. This role is crucial to ensuring our buildings, grounds and equipment are consistently safe, functional and visually inviting for everyone who steps onto our premises.

As the Facilities and Maintenance Officer, you will work to support our mission, keeping our spaces in top condition and helping us provide an accessible environment for our clients, staff and community.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Facilities and Maintenance Officer, you will undertake a diverse range of tasks, including, but not limited to:

  • Facilities and property maintenance
  • Conduct proactive and reactive maintenance on buildings, fixtures and outdoor structures.
  • Manage fleet vehicle repairs, services and maintenance.
  • Maintain tool and equipment schedules and inventory.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, ensuring compliance with safety and service standards.
  • Attend after hour call outs that require immediate attention may be required.
  • Gardening and grounds maintenance
  • Perform regular mowing, pruning, and weeding to maintain the presentation of gardens and grounds.
  • Oversee tree safety and liaise with arborists as needed.
  • Ensure clean, safe pathways and outdoor areas by keeping drains and gutters clear.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and risk management practices across all maintenance activities.
  • Ensure all tasks align with St.Giles’ quality and compliance standards, especially in high demand and client focused areas.

St.Giles requires the following from you:

  • Relevant trade qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage diverse maintenance and gardening tasks, including the operation of equipment like mowers and blowers.
  • Physical fitness and capacity for manual tasks, including moving heavy items, working at heights and handling outdoor machinery.
  • Ability to work autonomously, plan tasks effectively and communicate with the Corporate Support Partner on task progress and safety issues.
  • Knowledge of WHS requirements, with a commitment to safe work practices.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills, essential for collaborating with various stakeholders and responding to maintenance requests with professionalism.
  • A current unrestricted driver’s licence.
  • Current or ability to apply for National Police Check (no older than 3 months).
  • Current or ability to apply for Working with Vulnerable People Card/NDIS Worker Screening Check.
  • Knowledge of NDIS residential services for supported independent living would be beneficial.
