Respected Tasmanian business and community leader Mark Grey has been elected as Chair of Tasmanian disability service provider, St.Giles.
Mark is a Vision Impaired Director who attends Board meetings with his Vision Assistance Dog, “Hoover”.
St.Giles CEO, Honni Pitt, said that as a person with a disability, Mark has a special insight into some of the challenges faced by people with disabilities.
“Mark is a highly regarded administrator and board member, and his lived experience of disability is immensely valuable to the organisation”, Ms Pitt said.
“Mark is very passionate about supporting people with disabilities to live their lives to be as independent and able as possible.”
Mr Grey said, “St Giles is woven into the very fabric of our community and it is an honour to support some of the most vulnerable citizens in Tasmania to enable their best possible lives”

In addition to his St.Giles role, Mark sits on the Board of the Public Trustee, GP Registrars Australia, Vision Australia and is Chair of GPRA. Mark served as a CEO in medical administration and research and international marketing and government advocacy, and is a former Chair of MND Australia and a former Director of Guide Dogs, RACT and RSL Qld.
St. Giles is Tasmania’s older disability provider, current employing around 360 people assisting more than 2600 people annually, the majority of whom (approximately 70 per cent) are children aged 0-6 years.
St Giles’ full Board is: Mark Grey (Chair), Mark Baker, Michael Roberts, Janine Healey, Sally Gates, Kristen Derbyshire and Donna Bain.
