A dietitian led workshop for parents

Parent Information Session

Does your school aged child eat a limited diet and struggle with trying new foods? Navigating how to support a “fussy” or selective/avoidant eater can be really challenging for many parents. This dietitian run workshop aims to give you confidence to feed your child in a way that meets their needs but sets them up with a positive foundation with food and eating.
The workshop will cover a Responsive Feeding Approach to avoidant/selective eaters.

The workshop will cover the following areas:

  • What is “fussy” or selective/avoidant eating
  • Nutritional implications
  • General healthy eating for children
  • Behaviour management strategies
  • Ideas for improving nutrition
  • Sensory considerations
  • Division of responsibility
  • Lunch boxes and eating out

Parents will be assisted to develop and plan strategies tailored for their individual child at the end of the session. A phone consultation following the session will be provided to support parents in the implementation of the plan at home.
