Online Parent Information Session
Some children struggle with ‘controlling’ their emotions and behaviour more than others.
Why is it that some children are ‘easy going’ and others have difficulty managing changes, challenges, or emotions like frustration or fear?
Paying attention, waiting, or just sitting still may also be difficult for these children. The ability to navigate challenges and big emotions involves a skill called self-regulation.
Self-regulation is a developmental skill just like walking or talking. It needs practice and comes more easily to some children than others.
Learning to self-regulate means we can better manage our energy states, understand our emotions, and be more resilient to challenges. This in turn supports our learning and promotes strong relationships with others.
Self-regulation lays a foundation for a child’s long=term physical, psychological, social and educational well-being.
This workshop will provide carers with knowledge, skills and tools to assist children to navigate big emotions, melt downs and challenges more successfully.
It will give carers a better understanding of why a child has large emotions and how to help them return to a calm state.
